Paid parental leave, medical coverage for gender affirmation surgery and a $15 an hour minimum wage are among the workforce improvements recommended Friday in an executive order by Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto.
These benefits also include baby changing stations and free feminine hygiene products in city facilities.
The order applies to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, Urban Redevelopment Authority, Housing Authority and Public Parking Authority.
“Our government is doing its part to make Pittsburgh a better place to live and work, and to set an example for innovative and supportive workplaces across the region. I urge the authorities affiliated with the City – and the people working for them every day to deliver services to city residents – to continue their efforts to implement these policies,” Peduto said in a statement.
The order asks agency leaders to report their progress on these measures by the end of the year.
