Sexual Assault Survivors Lay To Rest A Triggering Election Season

For thousands of left-leaning men and women last week, Election Night was the culmination of a political nightmare they’d assumed would be over. 

Yes, their candidate lost. But for survivors of sexual assault, the reality of President-Elect Donald Trump validated the sort of behavior and attitude they’ve spent years trying to move beyond.

90.5 WESA’s Megan Harris spoke to eight Pittsburgh-area survivors.

"If you're somebody who thinks you don't know somebody like me, you're wrong. ... Somebody you know has been raped or sexually assaulted and if you don't know about that yet, it's because you haven't shown them that you're prepared to listen."
