90.5 WESA offers newsroom internship positions in the spring, summer, and fall. Our interns learn how to produce broadcast and digital journalism in a professional public radio environment.
Primary duties include story research, field reporting, multimedia projects (including photography and video), and writing and producing stories for broadcast and web. We also offer opportunities to help work on the production of on-air shows, including The Confluence.
The internship also includes training sessions and mentorship by newsroom reporters, hosts, and editors.
The internship is unpaid, and you must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate school program. Academic credit can be awarded based on the mutual agreement of the intern’s school and 90.5 WESA.
Requirements: A journalism or English degree—or working toward one—is preferred, but not required. We ask that interns be able work two to four days a week.
To apply: Please email a cover letter, resume, and three published clips or writing samples to firstname.lastname@example.org. Application deadlines: Spring internship (November 15); summer (March 15); fall (July 15).
