Washed over by echo, even live, Kurt Vile sounds as if he's in his bedroom with a group of his bleary-eyed buddies, fiddling with a four-track recorder. Vile was like a shaggy-haired Lou Reed at the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival in New York on Sept. 5, running through his playfully hazy pop songs backed by The Violators.
