Dawes, Recorded Live In Concert

After a year of solid touring around their home state of California, the members of Dawes seem most at home when they're on the stage. Dawes' blend of classic 1970s folk-rock and contemporary flair made the band's album North Hills an instant hit, forcing it onto everyone's radar.

Singer Taylor Goldsmith's powerful voice wavers between reflective sorrow and sunny optimism, and his quiet confidence carries with it a sense of maturity and wisdom. And, while the vocals and lyrics are central to their music, the other band members flesh out Dawes' intimate and timeless Cali-roots sound with carefully crafted arrangements that often attract comparisons to Neil Young.

Here, Dawes takes the stage at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia for WXPN's weekly Live Fridays concert series.
