Band of Joy is the name of Robert Plant's new collaborative project with Buddy Miller and Patty Griffin, as well as multi-instrumentalist Darrell Scott, bassist Byron House and percussionist Marco Giovino. Plant has resurrected his pre-Zeppelin group Band of Joy for an eponymous record of folk and roots covers.
Hear Robert talk about the origins of his new project, play live -- including a favorite Los Lobos cover, "Angel Dance." He also talks about his connection with Fairport Convention.
The band kicked off a 2010 tour with a great show in New York. Following up on the success of their U.S. tour, the band has dates in Sweden, Norway, England, Scotland, Ireland, Switzerland and France this fall.
This World Cafe performance originally aired on Oct. 22.
