One of my favorite foods of all time is the sancocho. It's a delicious stew with variations across Latin America, made of a melee of ingredients — vegetables, different types of meat, sometimes fish. Rich, nutritious and flavorful, sancocho is the ultimate comfort food, also known for healing properties after a night of too much parranda (partying).

This week's Alt.Latino is a lot like a hearty bowl of sancocho, in which we threw as many ingredients as we could. We've got Latin rock from Spain, Argentina and Brazil; a dash of Puerto Rican spice from electronic dance group ChuCha Santamaria y Usted; and some deliciously aged classic rock from the iconic Mexican band Caifanes.

We've also got a surprise ingredient: Colombia's Quantic Y Su Conjunto Los Miticos Del Ritmo share a track from the upcoming EP Hip Hop En Cumbia. If you've always wondered what Dr. Dre would sound like on accordion, well, wonder no more.

Sit down, relax, and enjoy a big helping of Alt.Latino. It's good for your health!
