Morning Teleportation: Upbeat And Improvisational
Morning Teleportation's high-energy, kaleidoscopic songs shift abruptly in tempo and style. As the band's members tell it, they were initially hesitant to play any of the same music twice, let alone solidify their musical ideas into anything as structured as songs. Which brings us to the mixture of banjo-twang, funky keyboard and psychedelic guitar that marks this live session.
After meeting Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse, Morning Teleportation signed to Brock's label, Glacial Pace, then moved from Kentucky to Portland and released its debut record this year. The album is packed with improvisation and marked by the almost ecstatic singing style of vocalist Tiger Merritt.
This opbmusic session features songs from Morning Teleportation's debut album, Expanding Anyway. The group will perform at Music Fest Northwest on Sept. 11 in Portland.
This session was recorded by Steven Kray. Videos produced by Jarratt Taylor.
