Governor Tom Corbett's office this week released more details on the administration's unfolding Marcellus Shale policy, including new incentives for energy companies that invest in natural gas infrastructure.
Patrick Henderson, the Governor's top energy adviser, envisions a system of "green corridors" where drivers of natural-gas-powered vehicles can refuel every 50 miles. He said Governor Corbett wants to create an incentive program to encourage companies to build natural gas filling station in order to help drive demand for Marcellus Shale gas.
"This is an opportunity to help grow that market in those local communities," Henderson said.
Henderson also touted bus systems in Pittsburgh and other cities where transit officials are already coordinating with energy companies to convert their fleets to run on natural gas.
