Public Input Sought on North Park Lake Area Master Plan

The 75 acre park and five mile trail around it are used for a wide variety of recreational activities throughout the year. Allegheny County and the Allegheny County Parks Foundation are crafting a plan to shape the future of the asset.

The first of three public meetings on the plan will be held Thursday night in Rose Barn in North Park off Pearce Mill Road. It will introduce the community to the master plan project and allow the public to share their thoughts, experiences, and impressions.

"There are some areas that could use improvement, and we want to get input from the users as to what they believe are the best steps to make this a better trail and an outstanding parks experience," said Christine Fulton, Executive Director of the Parks Foundation.

At the next meeting on November 17, county officials will present lake area master plan design alternatives and take public comment on the various options and project elements. The final plan will be unveiled at the last meeting on December 14, along with plans for implementation. Both will be held at Rose Barn.

For those who can't attend a meeting, input on the North Park Lake Area can be given at the Allegheny County Parks Foundation website.
