It's hard to overstate the infectious energy and thrill of a live performance by the New Orleans band The Soul Rebels. The group leads audiences on an unpredictable, brass-fueled march through the worlds of hip-hop, soul and funk, as they're fused with rock and, of course, New Orleans jazz.
The intensity reached a fever pitch when The Soul Rebels visited Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club for a night of live music and dance, originally webcast live on NPR Music Feb. 23.
