Authorities have issued a statewide alert for a woman who took a 3-day old boy out of Magee Women's hospital Thursday afternoon.
Police are searching the area of Oakland around the Hospital. Officials say a woman of aboutb 25 years of age, dressed in scrubswalked out of the hospital with the infant about 1 p.m.
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Manko says the abduction happened as the infant's family was preparing to leave the hospital. She says the infant was taken by a woman who is not believed to be a UPMC employee.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richards says officers are investigating but could not confirm any more details.
