The folk-rock supergroup Puss N Boots appears on Mountain Stage, recorded live in Charleston, W.Va. The trio — Catherine Popper, Sasha Dobson and Norah Jones — has been playing together since 2008, but only recently put out its first album, No Fools No Fun.
Bassist Popper was in Ryan Adams' band The Cardinals from 2004 to 2006, and has since performed alongside Levon Helm, Tony Rice, Jack White and Grace Potter. Sasha Dobson began singing jazz professionally at 16, and has recently opened shows for Willie Nelson. And Norah Jones, who takes on lead-guitar duties in Puss N Boots, became a household name more than a decade ago thanks to her best-selling, Grammy-winning album Come Away With Me.
Here, the trio plays an assortment of original Americana-flavored tunes and covers, including Dobson's own "Sex Degrees Of Separation," Tom Paxton's "Leaving London" and Neil Young's "Down By The River."
