Car Seat Headrest, 'Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales'

You may have gathered that we're excited about Car Seat Headrest's upcoming album, Teens of Denial. When Bob wrote about the first song off the album, "Vincent," a few weeks ago, he said "You're about to listen to a song from what is likely to be my No. 1 album of 2016." You won't have to wait long for that record now: Teens of Denialwill be out at the end of May on Matador Records. To celebrate that announcement, we have another song from the album to share.

"Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales," is an epic, imaginative guitar-rock song that highlights songwriter Will Toledo's lyrical brilliance and showcases his ear for great harmonies. Musically, it's a much more simple song than "Vincent," the first piece of Teens of Denialwe heard. The harmonies are simply stated but warm and embracing. The lyrics are full of passion, but the more dynamic delivery makes a powerful ebb and flow for the emotional content of the song. We know Toledo is a pretty good guitarist, but "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" shows us how much of a strong storyteller he is.

Teens of Denial will be out May 20 on Matador Records. Check out the album's full track list below. You can hear these songs and more from Car Seat Headrest on their upcoming tour, check out those dates here.
