90.5 WESA

90.5 WESA has hired journalist Irina Zhorov as the station’s reporter for the Keystone Crossroads initiative, a two-year public media collaboration to focus on the challenges and opportunities facing Pennsylvanian cities.

Zhorov joins 90.5 WESA after working as a reporter, multimedia producer and host at Wyoming Public Radio. Her professional interests focus on researching and reporting on environmental and energy-related issues, as well as homelessness and education.

She can be contacted via email at izhorov@wesa.fm or on Twitter @zhorovir.

For the next two years, Keystone Crossroads will provide ongoing reporting on the issues facing Pennsylvania's cities: aging infrastructure to poverty, tax policy and local government. The initiative aims to offer connected, statewide reporting on urban challenges in the Keystone State in order to encourage community discourse and strategic problem solving.

In addition to 90.5 WESA in Pittsburgh, WPSU in Central Pennsylvania and WITF in Harrisburg will participate, as well as WHYY in Philadelphia as lead station. Pittsburgh’s WQED joins the collaboration as associate partner.

Keystone Crossroads will begin to provide news coverage in the following weeks. Its multimedia reports can be found online, on air and through media partners of the participating public media outlets. Funding for Keystone Crossroads is provided by a two-year, $1.5 million grant from Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
