Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation, home of 90.5 WESA and 91.3 WYEP, announced today the appointment of Cindi Lash as executive editor. Lash will lead all journalism across broadcast, digital and mobile platforms.

“Cindi is already a well-known name in Pittsburgh journalism, and we are thrilled to welcome her back to take up this newly-created role within our organization,” said Terry O’Reilly, CEO of Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting. “She has been honored with regional and national awards and is recognized widely not just as a terrific journalist, but for her ability to grow and lead teams of reporters and editors across legacy and new media platforms.”

Lash joins Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting from Missouri Lawyers Media, a subsidiary of BridgeTower Media, where she began her tenure as editor in 2018. Before joining BridgeTower, she served as editor-in-chief at Pittsburgh Magazine for four years, acted as regional editor of local news startup Patch.com, and before Patch spent 15 years as reporter and editor at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

She began her career as a reporter for the Indiana (Pa.) Gazette and also worked for the Washington (Pa.) Observer-Reporter, the Birmingham News and The Pittsburgh Press.

“With considerable anticipation, I'm delighted to join Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation and to return to western Pennsylvania journalism,” Lash said. “At a time when Pittsburgh’s media landscape faces critical challenges, Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation has built a formidable newsroom that reflects its role as a singular source of essential news and information as well as its mission to serve, engage and inspire the region.”

Lash will join the staff at Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting on May 12, 2021.
