Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Park is running a unique take on one of Shakespeare’s famous works. PSIP’s Romeo and Juliet asks the audience to choose a side in the story’s fatal feud. Accompany either Romeo and the Montagues or Juliet and the Capulets as the story progresses. Theatregoers will view the performance on blankets or chairs, and move to follow their part of the story as it moves throughout the park, making for a truly natural experience. The audience — and the titular lovers — reunite for Romeo and Juliet’s scenes together. Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Park’s Romeo and Juliet opens this weekend, with shows on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Frick Park in Squirrel Hill. Look for showings to continue at various city parks throughout September.

Steel City Improv pushes the boundaries of comedy to the sound barrier this weekend featuring the LuPones. Made up of Broadway and musical theater veterans, the LuPones craft a musical based on audience suggestions. This one-of-a-kind experience involves the audience in the creative process, allowing for a truly unique musical event. Come out to witness the building of a musical with the one night only show of the "LuPones: Made Up Musicals." The show plays this Saturday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Steel City Improv Theatre in Shadyside.

The international group art show Testosterone premieres in Pittsburgh this weekend. Featuring artists working in Scotland, Portugal, Italy, the U.K. and the U.S., the artwork of Testosterone is set to address masculinity, violence, Eros and desire. The show is written in the same way both in English and in Italian, and features a variety styles tackling a wide range of artistic mediums. From painting to ceramics to photography to ink drawings, the show expresses masculinity in various forms. Testosterone opens this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Unsmoke Systems Artspace in Braddock.

This weekend the folks from Venture Outdoors are hosting a Family Outdoors Festival. The afternoon will be fun for the whole family. Stretch your legs on a Tyke Hike, scale the climbing wall, paddle a kayak on Lake Elizabeth or go off on a GPS treasure hunt. Arts and crafts activities are available as well for children of all ages. Have fun and be active with a slew of beginner-friendly activities. The Venture Outdoors Family Outdoors Festival is this Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Allegheny Commons.
