Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Park is running a unique take on one of Shakespeare’s famous works. PSIP’s Romeo and Juliet asks the audience to choose a side in the story’s fatal feud. Accompany either Romeo and the Montagues or Juliet and the Capulets as the story progresses. Theatregoers will view the performance on blankets or chairs, and move to follow their part of the story as it moves throughout the park, making for a truly natural experience. The audience — and the titular lovers — reunite for Romeo and Juliet’s scenes together. Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Park’s Romeo and Juliet opens this weekend, with shows on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Frick Park in Squirrel Hill. Look for showings to continue at various city parks throughout September.
