Bricolage Encourages Immersive Theater

Bricolage Theater

Engaging adventurous theater and artistic urban immersion. These are some of the key characteristics of the Bricolage Theater that landed them a cover feature in American Theater Magazine.

Bricolage co-founder and artistic director Jeffrey Carpenter is encouraged by the success of the theater and looks to expand its programs to more demographics.

“We envision theater not as a passive experience, we challenge our artists and we want our artists to challenge the audience the same way,” Carpenter says, adding that his artists strive to keep attendees on the edge of their seats.

The success of Midnight Radio, the live comedy series in classic 1940’s style, spawned the trial of Midnight Radio Jr. for kids. In collaboration with local schools, Bricolage has worked with students to create their own radio shows, teaching them about the mechanics of radio production. On the next Midnight Radio, Carpenter explains, listeners can hear “Shakesburgh,” a mixture mash-up of “yinzer” and Shakespearean prose.

“We’re really excited about storytelling and engaging our community,” says Carpenter, adding that the Bricolage is excited about engaging younger kids in the creative process.
