The folks at Midnight Radio have dreamed up an outrageous combination for their season opener. This weekend they mix the ‘Burgh with the Bard with "Shakesburgh." The live comedy show is sure to provide yinzer-brand hilarity to William Shakespeare. In their own words, “A yinzer will be tamed, hauses will be divided, and a coward will die his last death.” Midnight Radio’s take on the legendary writer begins this weekend. “Shakesburgh” goes live this Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Bricolage Theaterdowntown, and look for shows to continue next weekend.
This weekend marks the final few days of this year’s Pittsburgh Fashion Week. Highlighting fall fashions from Pittsburgh’s local boutiques, specialty stores, department stores, and more, Fashion Week aims to bring a higher quality show to the Steel City while “embracing and encompassing the breadth of fashion available in Pittsurgh.” This Saturday sees student designers from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the spotlight at the “BTB” Back-To-Back Runway Shows. Sunday closes out the Week with the Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame Luncheon, featuring performances by Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre students. The BTB Runway Shows start at 7 p.m. this Saturday at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Fashion Hall of Fame Luncheon opens its doors at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Omni William Penn Hotel downtown.
The performing arts project Alloy Pittsburgh opens to the public this Saturday. Developed as a collaboration between the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area and the Kipp Gallery at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Alloy Pittsburgh features 15 emerging artists from the greater Pittsburgh area developing temporary art pieces set at the Carrie Furnace National Historic Landmark. The opening event runs this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Carrie Furnaces in Braddock.
Pittsburgh’s ultimate Haunted House prepares for the Halloween season with a bang. This weekend, the acclaimed ScareHouse opens with a new attraction: “The Basement.” Not for the faint of heart, “The Basement” promises adult content and disturbing situations. Only one or two guests can enter the abyss at a time, and you must be 18 or older and sign a waiver before being granted admission. If you can brave the darkness, however, the nice folks at ScareHouse promise to scare you out of your mind. “The Basement” opens this weekend at the ScareHouse near the Pittsburgh Zoo in Highland Park, and look for shows to continue through the month of October.
