From historic Bennington, to Burlington on the shores of Lake Champlain there’s a lot to see and do in Vermont.
One of the best ways to enjoy the Green Mountain State is a cozy stay at a bed and breakfast. Travel contributor Elaine Labalme suggests some of her favorites.
“If anyone has mastered the art of B & B, it’s Vermonters,” says Labalme.
Inn at Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield – Up at the northern end of the state, this B&B has one of the few round barns still left in the state. Go hiking on marked trails and snow shoeing in the scenic winter land.
Inn at Ormsby Hill – At the southern end of the state, this inn is situated near many holiday shopping destinations. As a AAA luxury resort, Labalme guarantees the pampering here is top notch.
Rabbit Hill Inn in Lower Waterford – “It’s got that really sweet, small-town vibe,” says Lablame, adding that the Inn started as a Tavern but has been renovated into a charming destination.
Windham Hill Inn is West Townsend – This property is the quintessential romantic bed and breakfast. Labalme says the resort is nationally recognized for its excellence in lodging services and food.
The Equinox – Located in Manchester, this resort includes golf, fly-fishing, four restaurants, skiing and absolutely gorgeous rooms. Mrs. Lincoln is known for booking rooms in this historic hotel.
