With the celebration of Canada taking place this week in the Steel City, Niagara Falls offers something for visitors on both the American and Canadian sides.
Long regarded as a honeymoon destination, Niagara Falls is close enough for a long weekend getaway. Travel contributor Elaine Labalme offered suggestions for a trip to the falls.
Niagara Falls is made up of three waterfalls, Bridal Veil Falls, Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls. They're all nestled on the border of Niagara, New York and Ontario, Canada.
While there are a few things to do on the U.S. side, the Canadian side offers the Niagara Falls Adventure Pass for five different attractions. Niagara's Fury is described as a 4D experience and a white water walk. The Maid of the Mist ferry ride is a must for anyone that visits the Falls, and yes, you will receive a rain poncho so you don't get too wet during the trip.
The Table Rock Welcome Centre features shopping, dining and a few of the adventures included on the pass. It features beautiful views of the falls as well as information about anything you'll need during your visit.
If you need lodging or want a dinner recommendation, Elaine suggests the Marriott Niagara Falls for views of the falls and Mandarin, a Chinese buffet about ten minutes outside of the falls area.
