Are you feeling an overwhelming need to get away? Would a quick autumnal excursion sate your wanderlust? This week travel contributor Elaine Labalme suggests five quick fall getaways.

With the holiday season just around the corner,  Labalme emphasizes that traveling in the fall season can be a great stress reliever. Among the destinations on her list are Nature Inn, Chicago and the Tides Inn.

Labalme says that the Nature Inn at Bald Eagle State Park in Howard, PA offers great, cozy accommodations as well as opportunities for hiking and birding.

If you’re looking for more of a big-city getaway, Chicago is an 8-hour drive or 2-hour flight from Pittsburgh and has great restaurants like Alinea, Tru, and Spiaggia as well as world-renowned museums like the Art Institute of Chicago.

Meanwhile, The Tides Inn in Irvington, VA is a lovely place to stay if you want to paddle boat, go sailing or play a game of Frisbee golf or croquette.
