The Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, the free 10-day music and arts festival that occurs in downtown Pittsburgh every June, will take place June 5-14 this year with the theme "Unseen-Unheard."

Headliners include singers such as Neko Case, Benjamin Booker and Rhiannon Giddens. There are dozens of other musicians performing at the stage set up at Point State Park, as well as visual arts projects. There will also be an artists’ fair and food for sale.

Veronica Corpuz, director of Festival Management and Special Projects with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, said the theme came about after conversations with colleagues.

“We were discussing everything from the invisibility of women of color, black women to the silent spaces around hospices and sick beds," Corpuz said at a news conference Monday. "From that conversation, a strong desire to bring to the foreground artists who courageously touch upon these closed and hidden topics.”

There will also be visual arts on display in several galleries downtown. There will be a series of 10 exhibitions that will be on display for the 10 days of the festival. That includes a juried visual arts exhibition.

“This is the first time in over a decade we have opened up the jurying to applications from outside the Pittsburgh region. Out of the 500 submissions we have received submissions from as close as Tarentum and as far away as Tehran,” said Corpuz.

2015 is the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and in celebration there will be American Sign Language interpreted performances.
