What To Check Out This Holiday Season: Social Club December 4

We are back! WESA’s Josh and Yelp Pittsburgh’s Rachel are here to tell you everything you need to know about fun things going on in the city. It was a week of relaxation and binge-watching TV, but now it's time to tell you about these cool holiday events. Let the insanity of the season begin.

Let’s start with The Joy of Cookies Tour. It’s cookies, do you really need to know anything else? OK, fine, we will give you a few more details. The shops in the business district of Butler Street are going to feature some homemade cookies! Come down Thursday through Sunday and get your holiday shopping done while enjoying some yummy treats.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker will start its run for the holiday season. Every year you can see something new and this year will feature a brand new tree! The ballet will run from Dec. 4 through the 27 at the Benedum Theater.

Another holiday tradition, Pittsburgh CLO’s A Musical Christmas Carol, will begin its run at the Byham Theater,Dec. 4 through the 20. It’s a tradition and a great story that is wonderful for the whole family. Also, check out film and stage legend Tom Atkins, as he makes his eighth appearance as Ebenezer Scrooge. Don’t be confused. This role is definitely being played by Tom Atkins, and not Josh Raulerson. Even though he is a Scrooge and hates all holiday celebrations (and you thought we wouldn’t call you out).

You know what would sound good right now? A warm yummy adult drink. The third annual Hot Cocktails Party hosted by Pittsburgh Cocktail Week is here! Come check out drinks from the team behind Tender Bar and Kitchen and “enjoy steaming hot adult beverages along with live, fiery demonstrations of how to make show-stopping hot cocktails.” This event is Saturday at Prairie.

Handmade Arcade is this Saturday from 11 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Grab some homemade gifts for everybody on your holiday list.

Freaky Flea and Counter Culture Craft Fair is at Cativo this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Offbeat crafts, unique jewelry and obscure items will be made available. Everybody has that “unique” friend or one that is hard to buy for. This could be the place to find them a gift.

Here we go! Countdown to the holidays begins now!
