So, What Exactly Is Fermentation? Social Club February 26

Last week gave us a taste of spring. But now that you're done sunbathing in the 60-degree weather, let's say goodbye to February with some weekend fun. 

On Friday, you can start your weekend on a contemplative note, by going to Kelly Strayhorn Theater's "Failure:Lab." Notable Pittsburghers Mayor Bill Peduto, Darieth Chisolm, Kevin Sousa and Holly Joy Gaines talk about their failures -- how they embraced it and how to learn from it. 

Or spend your Friday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center guzzling beer at the Winter Beerfest. Saturday is sold out, but you can still spend Friday night trying beers from national breweries and local ones, such as Arsenal, Battlefield Brewworks, Church Brew Works, East End Brewery and more. 

Trax Farms is also hosting a Winter Wine Festival on Saturday. It's $25 to try wine tastings, hear lectures, eat and listen to some live music. 

And this weekend we also say goodbye to the Pittsburgh Public Market. You can still scoop up your favorite foods, while Saturday will host a food truck roundup and Sunday you can enjoy the Fermentation Festival, for all things fermented (we're still confused by what exactly fermentation actually is). 

Or spend Saturday engaging your senses at Q Ball: Sixth Sense from the Quantum Theater. You can dance the night away, or go VIP and sample foods from e2, participate in a live auction and drink cocktails. When you're picking out your outfit, the invite suggests, "What would you wear if you're stepping into the unknown?" That's for you to decide ...
