'Sidewall Project' Offers Canvas For Artists To Display Public Work

Bob Studebaker (L), Sidewall Project (R)

A Pittsburgh artist, who prefers to be known simply as “Brick,” has been displaying art on an exterior wall of her house in Bloomfield for more than two years.

She refers to it as “The Sidewall Project,” and it began as an opportunity for artists to have their work displayed in a public space.

The current exhibit was created by Richard Pell and is a familiar sight to many Pittsburghers.

For decades, Bob Lansberry was a presence Downtown, carrying placards warning of various conspiracies, like government mind control via radio waves. His image on the side of this house in Bloomfield serves as a reminder of an iconic Pittsburgh eccentric who is no longer with us.

Bob is a host for JazzWorks. Bob has been working in different areas of the radio industry for 33 years. He thinks “public radio is a forum for ideas and entertainment unavailable on commercial radio and that makes it indispensable.” Bob is a lifelong Pittsburgher who married and raised both of his children in his home city.
