Please, We Know Guac Is Extra: Social Club September 9
Let’s take a trip around the world. A food trip that is! This weekend is a foodie-lovers dream here in the ‘burgh and WESA’s Josh and Sarah and Yelp Pittsburgh’s Rachel are here to guide you through it.
Let’s start in Mexico!
There are a ton of fun places to grab your favorite taco, burrito or margarita. Mad Mex is delicious and its gobblerito is legendary. And no, you don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to get it. It returns Sept. 19.
Another place to check out is Las Palmas in Oakland -- it's a market that offers a sidewalk taco bar, made to order. You’ll see things there you never knew you wanted on your taco but when you do, it. is. just. right.
Doce Taqueria is a WESA staple since it is steps away from our studio. A plethora of $3 tacos and a delicious selection of Mexican sodas await you!
El Burro on Federal Street, offers the elusive California burrito (which has fries in it, just like Pittsburgh. Copy cats!)
Another option is El Campesino, which has daily and happy hour specials to pair along with your Mexican food.
Where do you love to get Mexican in the ‘Burgh? Let us know on Twitter with #SocialClub.
Next up on our trip around the world- Italy!
Steel City Pizzafest is hitting the Strip District this Sunday. Check out music, vendors and vegetables. JUST KIDDING- PIZZA! It'll feature a pizza-eating contest and competition for the best pizza in town. Side note, the Social Club crew (including this writer) would LOVE to be considered as judges in the future. /shameless plug.
Hellooooo! It is time to go to England! Cheerio!
Britsburgh is this weekend at Hartwood Acres. Celebrate all things royal and British with music, discussions, teas and readings. And of course, a little Shakespeare. https://vimeo.com/15476780" target="_blank">ACTING!
Want to hit some other hot spots around the world?
The Strip District World Festival is this weekend in the Strip. The festival will have music, food and fun from all around the world. Trust us, you won’t go home hungry.
Let’s continue our stroll through the Strip at Stroll the Strip, this Friday. Eat and drink your way through one of the hottest places in town. This is definitely a stroll you don’t want to miss.
And some non-food related events for you:
Also in the Strip this weekend is the Neighborhood Flea. Vintage goods, housewares, furniture and more will be on hand.
Sunburst School of Music is celebrating their five-year anniversary along with its Fall Open House, this Saturday at 12 p.m. There will be free demo lessons on guitar, bass and more, along with trials of all their Sunburst Rocks group programs.
