Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon (P3R) and the Allegheny Trail Association (ATA) have joined forces for the inaugural GAP Relay. The new two-day event challenges relay teams of runners to tackle 24 legs of varying distances on the 150-mile Greater Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail from Cumberland, Maryland to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The race is the first of its kind for western Pennsylvania! Teams of eight or four runners will begin the relay in Cumberland, Maryland on Friday, October 12 and cross the finish line in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 13. Each relay team member will receive a commemorative medal, commemorative shirt featuring custom artwork and swag bag including the trail’s official TrailGuide guidebook. Other incredible perks include a FREE pair of shoes for team captains from Brooks Running; a Nuun Hydration pack and $25 Sheetz gift card for each team to refuel; and one FREE bier, soft pretzel with bier cheese and pierogies for each team member at the post-race party at the Hofbräuhaus Biergarten.
