Mountainside Baroque continues its 9th season on Sunday, November 10. “Voices and Viols” contrasts the lush sonorities of the voice with the compelling, graceful sound of a full viola da gamba ensemble, ranging from treble to bass. Soprano Julie Bosworth and mezzo soprano Janna Critz, who comprise Vivi Cantando, will be featured along with The Queen’s Viols members Christel Thielmann, Rebecca Landell, Lucine Musaelian, Arnie Tanimato and Patricia Adams Nordstrom. Joining the viol consort will be Lyle Nordstrom, playing a relative of the viol, the plucked-string lute. This concert promises a wonderful afternoon of music from the time of Queen Elizabeth I and William Shakespeare. The performance will take place at 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 15 N Smallwood (Smallwood at Washington) in Cumberland, Maryland. It is preceded at 3:30 p.m. by a talk about the concert music and composers. Please enter through the parking lot door. Tickets $25, $5 student price (under 18 or with valid ID). Discount specials can be purchased in advance at mountainsidebaroque.org. Tickets are also available at the door on the day of the concert.
