Your friendly neighbors at the Pittsburgh Children's Museum will waive admission fees on Wednesday, March 20 — just tell 'em Mister Rogers sent you.
In honor of Fred Rogers' birthday, patrons of all ages are invited to check out the exhibits gratis, including replicas of pieces from the original set of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," filmed at WQED in Pittsburgh between 1968 and 2001.
The museum's 11th birthday celebration will also feature a visit from actor David Newell, better known to "Neighborhood" fans as speedy deliveryman Mr. McFeely.
Children's Museum Director of Marketing Bill Schlageter said he thinks the exhibit will bring back memories.
"For adults, the days when they watched the program," he said, "and for the children it gives another one of those great opportunities to talk about what something means and what something represents; and a new generation can learn a bit more about Fred Rogers."
Musicians from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free all day (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Details can be found at the Children's Museum website.
