Allegheny County 911 Center Fully Operational After Technical Issues

Updated: 11:57 a.m.

After experiencing some technical issues earlier Thursday morning, the Allegheny County 911 Center is now fully operational. All callers dialing 911 will reach the center, according to a news release from the county.

The county had advised residents experiencing trouble calling 911 to use a seven-digit number that would direct their calls to the center. That number, (412) 473-3056, will remain active and answered in the 911 center through Friday, however at this point any individual needing help is advised to call 911.

The Allegheny County 911 Center is experiencing some technical equipment issues, according to a news release issued by the county Thursday morning.

Some callers might experience a busy signal. In that case, officials are advising callers to hang up and dial (412) 473-3056. That number is going straight into the 911 center and will be handled as a 911 call as officials work on the problem.

Back-up systems are in place, according to the county, so most 911 callers in Allegheny County will experience no problems.
