Congressman Rothfus to Hold Women's Conference in Pittsburgh

Pennsylvania Congressman Keith Rothfus will be in Pittsburgh Saturday hosting a “Women’s Conference on Work, Home, and Life.”

Rothfus said the conference, which will be held at the Community College of Allegheny County, North Campus, is a good way for him to get to know his constituents.

“We’re going to be talking about networking, building bridges,” said Rothfus. “We’re going to be talking about how to start a business. We have Dr. Mary McKinney from Duquesne University who is the Director of the Small Business Development Center, and Dr. Ann Gatty who is going to be talking about realizing your worth.”

Rothfus said these topics are especially important for the nation’s economic recovery.

“The one way that we help to underwrite the critical social service programs that we have in our country is to get more and more people back to work, and the idea of people starting businesses,” said Rothfus. “It’s a great way for people to fulfill their potential and to serve the needs of others.”

The conference will also feature information about internet safety, nutrition, stress management, and how to save money for college.

The keynote speaker is Congresswoman Ann Wagner of Missouri.

“She’s a mom of three individuals, including a son who is serving in the military,” said Rothfus. “She’s got a lot of balls in the air and she just keeps on managing to accomplish a great number of things. I think she brings some unique perspectives both on what’s going on in Washington and in family life.”

The event is free and open to the public. People who are interested in attending can RSVP at Rothfus’s website.
