County Controller Meets with VisitPittsburgh Regarding "Undercover Boss" Funds

Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner and members of her staff met with the tourism agency VisitPittsburgh, according to a release from her office. The meeting pertained to Wagner's concerns over taxpayer dollars being spent in connection to the CBS show "Undercover Boss."

As a guest on the show Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto promised to provide city employee families with $155,000 in aid. The mayor also promised that no taxpayer money would be used to provide the aid. Peduto's administration had requested some of the funds from VisitPittsburgh to help pay for the donations, but Wagner noted that much of the agency's budget comes from taxpayer dollars.

In the release Wagner said “I am confident that VisitPittsburgh, now with full information regarding how the money would be used and the limitation of use of such taxpayer dollars, will make the right decision."
