Minors are frequently arrested for offenses such as assault, criminal conspiracy, and marijuana possession. Many are arrested for more than one offense.
Nearly 84 percent of juveniles who are arrested are black, despite only accounting forone-quarter of Pittsburgh's racial makeup. Black males in particular constitute the largest group of arrested youth by far, followed by black females, white males, and white females.
