The wife of former East Pittsburgh police officer Michael Rosfeld burst into tears, shaking uncontrollably, when a jury announced Friday it had acquitted her husband of homicide. Meanwhile, the mother of Antwon Rose, who the officer fatally shot last summer, did not cry in the courtroom. Michelle Kenney later said she was disappointed in the verdict but not surprised.
Rosfeld was charged with homicide, after shooting and killing Rose, who was unarmed, last June. Rose had been fleeing a car that was involved in a drive-by shooting minutes earlier. After a four-day trial, jurors selected from Dauphin County deliberated for less than four hours before returning with a ‘not guilty’ verdict. 90.5 WESA’s Sarah Schneider spoke with reporter An-Li Herring during Weekend Edition Saturday about the choice the jurors faced.
