A Pittsburgh-area school district planned to resume classes Tuesday, one day after they were cancelled following a potential threat of violence received over the weekend.

Plum Borough school officials said the decision was made after they consulted with police. Roughly 3,600 students overall attend the district's five schools and its technology center.
The “non-specific” potential threat came Sunday from an online system for reporting anonymous tips run by the state attorney general's office. Police said the decision to close all district schools was made “in an abundance of caution" while police investigated.
Police chief Lanny Conley has said it was a “generalized threat to shoot up the school.”
The district was closed after a threat in 2018. Six threats were received in spring 2017, resulting in charges against several students.
