Republican County Executive candidate D. Raja has released eight policy packages during the campaign, and now has released a plan he said he'd implement immediately if elected.
"One, assemble the best team there is, that's the first thing I would do," said Raja, "the second thing I would do is meet with all the department heads in Allegheny County and work out the metrics we want to publish and on the first day of my administration that is what I'd roll out."
Those metrics would include economic prosperity, which he said he'd measure by keeping track of unemployment.
Another 100-day goal set by Raja would be to put together a bipartisan team that would be charged with finding ways to make all county operations as transparent as possible.
The plan also calls for the conversion of Port Authority buses to natural gas and a program aimed at attracting more startup businesses to the region.
Democratic challenger, Rich Fitzgerald has brought up some lawsuits Raja's firm filed against 84 employees for breaking their employment contracts. When asked about that, Raja accused Fitzgerald of trying to steer attention away from the issues.
