Return to Paper Ballots?

The effect of Hurricane Sandy could impact voting in Pennsylvania Tuesday.  The Corbett administration says between 250 and 300 polling places in the commonwealth remain without power just four days before the presidential election.

However, Department of State spokesman Ron Ruman won't say which voting locations have no electricity.

Ruman did say the number continues to fall as crews work to restore electricity.  He says a request by The Associated Press for the list of locations is under consideration, but it has not been released at this time because of concerns it might mislead voters.

The bulk of the outages are in the southeast, Lehigh Valley and northeast, but others are scattered in other parts of the state.

Pennsylvania has about 9,300 polling places.

Ruman said for those sites that remain without power on election day, county officials can move precincts, use paper ballots, bring in generators or rely on the voting machines' batteries for juice.
