Democratic incumbent Adam Ravenstahl has defeated Republican challenger Tom Fodi in the 20th House District race with 61 percent of the vote. This is the 29-year-old Summer Hill representative’s third consecutive two-year term.
Fodi, 31, said he ran for the seat with increasing disappointment in the party politics of the commonwealth.
“I’m a fiercely independently minded person, and I just get tired of talking points that just blame other people; I just get frustrated with no progress,” the South Hills minister and Air Force Reserve chaplain said after conceding the race in a Bellevue restaurant.
As supporters shuffled out, Fodi turned to his own cell phone to write a concessional Facebook post.
“It was an amazing ride, this entire year, this entire process," he said. "I just couldn’t be happier with the amount of support that came out for us. I’m thankful for waking up tomorrow morning knowing I have more time on my hands and can put my energies elsewhere."
Adam Ravenstahl, the younger brother of former Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl, was not immediately available for comment.
