Governor-elect Tom Wolf has named Dennis Davin, 52, director of Allegheny County Economic Development, as secretary for the Department of Community and Economic Development.
Davin has worked for the county for 10 years and also serves as director of the County Redevelopment Authority and executive director of the Industrial Development Authority.
As head of ACED, Davin oversees 75 employees and eight divisions, including business development, housing and human services, planning, special projects and finance. In a news release, Wolf noted that "Pennsylvania is 50th in job growth and we are facing a deficit of $2 billion or more. Dennis brings nearly 30 years of economic development experience..."
The state Department of Community and Economic Development is charged with enticing corporations to move to Pennsylvania, growing Pennsylvania-based businesses and start-ups and promoting job growth, as well as distributing grants to community groups and municipal governments. Davin will replace Alan Walker.
Wolf also announced Monday the appointment of Eileen McNulty to serve as the secretary of the Department of Revenue. She previously served in the same role under Gov. Robert Casey and executive deputy secretary of the Department of Revenue under Gov. Ed Rendell.
Wolf's inauguration is Jan. 20.
