Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald had no problem winning a second, four-year term in Tuesday’s election.

The Democrat faced a sole, token challenge from independent candidate Todd Elliott Koger. The Republican Party opted to not run a candidate, allowing Fitzgerald to easily grab 75 percent of the vote.

“I was very privileged to have four years to serve as County Executive,” Fitzgerald said. “And I’ll be privileged to have another four years.”

Fitzgerald also had no opponent in the Democratic primary in May.

“We want to continue to move on the momentum we have seen in this region; we want to continue with young people moving in," he said. "We have seen our are median age drop as more young people have moved in [for] more opportunities."

Fitzgerald said his second term will focus more on workforce development and transportation at all levels, including transit, biking and airport services.
