Wolf Launches Fiscal Savings Accountability Website

Gov. Tom Wolf launched a website Monday where he says taxpayers can track the $150 million he pledged to save through streamlining state agencies.

Last year, Wolf called on the Office of Innovation to work with other state agencies to save $150 million dollars. He renamed the office GO-TIME, an acronym for the Governor’s Office of Transformation, Innovation, Management and Efficiency.

Now taxpayers can read about some of the more than 200 initiatives the office is working on, including consolidating mailrooms and sharing electronic grant software, on the GO-TIME website.

Dan Egan, spokesperson for GO-TIME, said it’s not just about saving money, but finding better ways to accomplish tasks.

“Rather than investing in their own equipment, their own staff training and other resources,” Egan said, “being able to leverage the things we already have here, in order to get more value out of them and minimize the need to invest in additional resources.”

The office works with state agencies to replicate best practices. For example, the Department of Community and Economic Development is now allowing other agencies to use its electronic grants management system, so that other agencies won’t have to build their own. The Department of Revenue is also offering its document imaging equipment to be leveraged by other state agencies.

Each agency has an appointed leader to work with GO-TIME towards Wolf’s savings goal.
