Mueller Report Mentions 'Miners For Trump' Rally In Pittsburgh

Report On The Investigation Into Russian Interference In The 2016 Presidential Election
/
U.S. Department of Justice

Pittsburgh shows up in the report on Russian interference in the 2016 election by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The report, released today, includes a section on how the Internet Research Agency, a Russian company with ties to Russian intelligence, created social media postings for “Miners for Trump” rallies in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in October 2016.

According to the flyer, the Pittsburgh rally was scheduled for Oct. 2, 2016 at Steel Plaza downtown.

Tim McNulty, the spokesman for the city of Pittsburgh, said in an email that no applications for the rally were filed for the city, and that no permits were issued.

The Russian ties to the Pennsylvania rallies were previously disclosed in a February indictment by Mueller.
