2018: A Very Busy Year In Pittsburgh News

Dec 21, 2018

It’s been a year full of pivotal and impactful news, from court battles over redrawn Congressional maps and the resulting Democratic gains, to a shocking grand jury report on clergy abuse and demands from survivors for a change to statute of limitation laws, and even in church leadership.

A panel of WESA staffers join to discuss a year in Pittsburgh headlines -- including public outcry over the police shooting death of Antwon Rose, Jr., the  murders of  11 worshippers at the Tree of Life Synagogue and the renewed call for stricter gun laws -- plus, the controversial effort to lure Amazon to Pittsburgh, the loss of a young rising hip hop artist, important changes at major local cultural institutions and a transit plan to better move commuters.

Panelists include:

  • Chris Potter, government and accountability editor
  • An-Li Herring, government and accountability reporter
  • Margaret J. Krauss, development and transportation reporter
  • Bill O'Driscoll, arts and culture reporter
  • Virginia Alvin0-Young, race and identity reporter
  • Katie Blackley, reporter and producer
  • Sarah Schneider, education reporter
  • Kathleen Davis, general assignment reporter
