900 Spring Hill Households Under PWSA Flush And Boil Order

Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority

*The flush and boil advisory has been lifted as of Saturday, September 8. Residents in Spring Hill are no longer being recommended to take precautionary measures.

The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority has announced a precautionary flush and boil order for parts of the Spring Hill neighborhood.

Residents of approximately 900 households are urged to flush their taps and boil any water meant for consumption.

That includes water intended to be used for drinking, washing dishes, brushing teeth, washing produce and food preparation.

In homes with lead pipes or solder – or if residents do not know if they have lead pipes or solder – taps should be flushed for at least one minute and water should be boiled vigorously for at least one minute and let cool before being used.

The flush and boil order is the result of low to no pressure as crews worked to repair a water line and valve Thursday morning.

According to a news release, “PWSA is conducting testing to confirm adequate disinfectant levels and to verify that the water is safe to consume.”

The authority will notify customers when the flush and boil order is lifted.
