“We have a lot of friends who don’t want to wait until 11 p.m. to start the evening, so we came up with this idea that guarantees you’ll be home and most likely in bed by 10,” Beall said. “We even give you a Netflix recommendation for when you get there.”
She said the event has drawn increasing crowds since its inception in May, last month bringing between 150 and 200 people. The next party takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Spirit in Lawrenceville.
“We’re surprised at how many other people are backing us and, literally before the night’s over, ask us when the party is the next month,” Beall said.
Buchholz has taken on deejay duties, spinning a blend of 80s pop hits, indie rock sleepers and current chart-toppers.
Beall and Buchholz ask party-goers to provide a $5 suggested donation that benefits a different non-profit organization each month. This month’s cover charge will go to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, while past events have benefited Girls Rock! Pittsburgh and Animal Friends.
