Global Entrepreneurship Week

Rebecca Harris

Entrepreneurship has become the new American dream. However, this business concept isn’t strictly American, as evidenced by this week being designated Global Entrepreneurship Week. Contributor Rebecca Harris joins us for a look at the worldwide growth in entrepreneurship.

Global Entrepreneurship Week, Harris explains, is the world’s largest international meeting of innovators and job creators. GEW first started in 2007 with just 37 countries, and today the week involves 150 countries, 25 million participants and more than 115,000 activities throughout the week.

Women -- whom Harris describes as “an untapped resource” in economies throughout the world -- have an entire day at the GEW that is dedicated to their interests and needs.  Closer to home, Pittsburgh will host a Startup Weekend from November 21-23.
