Officer Calvin Hall's sister, Eugenia Hall Miller, speaks with media during a public viewing of her brother.

Pittsburgh Police arrested and charged Christian Bey for the murder of Officer Calvin Hall, major crimes Commander Victor Joseph told reporters at a Monday afternoon press conference.

"The arresting detectives took great satisfaction in placing Calvin's handcuffs on the actor," Joseph said as he and other officers stood outside of Soldiers and Sailors Hall in Oakland, where a viewing for Hall was held. The criminal complaint is sealed, so Joseph said he would not be able to elaborate on details of the investigation.

"Obviously this arrest will not bring Calvin back," Joseph said. "But I hope it brings some peace to his family and his friends."

Police had previously identified Bey as a "person of interest" in the case. He had been detained on unrelated charges.

Hall's family later joined the press conference and his sister, Eugenia Hall Miller, said the family is "overjoyed" that Bey had been arrested and charged.

"There are no amount of words that I can say to comfort my mother," Miller said. "Her heart has been ripped out of her, and I have to watch her suffer every day for the loss of her son. To the coward who shot my brother in the back and killed him: May God have mercy on your soul."

Hall died last Wednesday after being shot in the back three days prior. He was 36 years old. His funeral will take place on Tuesday at Soldiers and Sailors Hall.
