It’s an exciting week for Sarah, with her birthday coming up – even though she hates when her mom puts fresh strawberries in her favorite, fake-tasting Duncan Hines box cake mix! But what’s even more exciting is … Restaurant week!
There are so many options for Restaurant Week, how do you choose one? Good news, WESA’s Josh and Sarah, as well Rachel of Yelp Pittsburgh have lots of experience eating out and break it down for you.
Want delicious food made with care? Kaleidoscope Café in Lawrenceville has a ton of options and it’s BYOB. Seriously though, you had us at brussel sprout salad with aged cheddar, gouda and crispy prosciutto.
And, according to Rachel, the Twisted Frenchman in East Liberty is great for dinner and a show. We’re not sure exactly what that means, but she raves about their artful presentations. Try their elevated “fish and chips” or go fancy with some foie gras. Bon Appetit!
Or grab a fancy dinner, for less money like Sarah does each year. She’s a fan of the filet mignon at Morton's Steakhouse Downtown (plus you can get some delicious truffle butter for a little extra). And, pro tip: Mortons celebrates National Filet Mignon day with $1 sliders at the bar. This year it’s on Aug. 13.
But before Restaurant Week kicks off, you can preemptively burn off some calories with the In Bed By Ten dance party! This weekend it’s outside, for Summer Fridays at the Frick. So get out there, shimmy, grab some food truck eats to nosh on and get home early for bed!
And if you’re feeling like some vino is in order, head over to WineaPalooza at Stage AEon Sunday. If you’re an early drinker, the first session kicks off at 11 a.m. (that’s what we call brunch). So, earn a purple tongue as you try some local wines.
Or explore your creative side with craft and drafts at the Society for Contemporary Craft in the Strip District. You can drink fine beers while making handmade paper with hop flowers and reclaimed materials from the brewing process. So meta.
