We hate to inform you but we are halfway through July. How did that happen? Have we been spending THAT much time playing “Pokemon Go?” We refuse to believe that summer is halfway over so we plan to do it up big this weekend. WESA’s Josh and Sarah and Yelp Pittsburgh’s Rachel are here to “do the darn thing” and fill you in on everything “summer” here in the 'burgh.
We start with BREAKING NEWS ON THE ICE CREAM FRONT. Buzzfeed, along with a little help from Yelp, just released a list of the top ice cream shops in every state. And the Pennsylvania winner is (drum roll) Antney’s Ice Cream! Congrats!
In other ice cream news, the Sugar and Spice Ice Cream Boatis happening. This is not a drill, people. It's a boat. that. will. give. you. ice cream. It’s grand opening is this weekend at South Side Works behind Hofbrauhaus Shop.
Have you ever tried pickle-ice cream? You are going to have your chance at Picklesburgh, this weekend on the Rachel Carson Bridge. Enjoy everything pickle-related with food, cocktails and more! They even have pickle merchandise because everyone needs a pickle-themed gift. There is also a pickle-juice drinking contest. We might skip out on that one, but may the odds be ever in your favor.
This Saturday at the Pittsburgh Glass Center is Ignite + Imbibe. Enjoy local handcrafted beverages from Wigle Whiskey and Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka and glassblowing demonstrations. Every attendee can take a homemade glass home!
The Fourth Annual Pittsburgh Summer Beerfestis at Stage AE, July 15th and 16th. Taste tons of different beers (seriously, the list is endless) and they even have designated driver tickets!
The Feed More Festivalis this Sunday at Stage AE. The festival features local and national acts like Cold War Kids and The Lone Bellow, food trucks, I Made It! Market and more. It benefits the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, so not only will you be enjoying great music but you can feel good about it too!
The Polish Hill Arts Festivalis this Sunday from noon until 9pm. Enjoy music, hands-on art activities for all ages, vendors and more.
Ladyfest Pittsburghis this weekend at various bars and venues throughout the area. This is not your mother's Lilith Fair. It’s a three day festival that celebrates all the amazing lady-fronted bands here in Pittsburgh. WESA’s own Liz Reid will be performing and we know she is going to crush it! Rock out to some girl-power all while benefiting the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh. Who run the world? Girls.
